JOB VACANCY: Elementary Physical Education Teacher

LOCATION: Delta Elementary School 7661 Mer Rouge-Collinston Road Collinston, Louisiana 71229

SUBJECT AREA: Health and Physical Education

GRADE LEVEL(S): Kindergarten-6th Grade

POSITION OVERVIEW

Delta Elementary School is seeking a highly motivated, energetic, and student-centered educator to serve as an Elementary Physical Education (PE) Teacher. The successful candidate will provide standards-based physical education instruction that promotes physical fitness, healthy lifestyles, sportsmanship, teamwork, and lifelong wellness habits.

The Elementary PE Teacher will implement Louisiana Student Standards for Health and Physical Education while creating a safe, positive, and engaging learning environment that supports students'' physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development.

EMPLOYMENT DETAILS

Employment Type: Full-Time 9-Month Contract

Salary: In accordance with the MPSD Teacher Pay Scale and applicable state guidelines

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plan and deliver standards-aligned physical education instruction.
  • Teach age-appropriate skills related to fitness, movement, sports, recreation, health, and wellness.
  • Promote teamwork, sportsmanship, leadership, and personal responsibility.
  • Maintain a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet diverse student needs.
  • Assess student performance and skill development.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and attendance.
  • Implement PBIS practices and schoolwide expectations.
  • Ensure proper care and maintenance of equipment and facilities.
  • Supervise students during all physical education activities.
  • Collaborate with school personnel to support student success.
  • Participate in PLCs, faculty meetings, and professional development.
  • Integrate instructional technology when appropriate.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and guardians.
  • Support school wellness initiatives.
  • Maintain confidentiality in accordance with FERPA.
  • Maintain a professional growth plan.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor''s Degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Valid Louisiana Teaching Certificate with appropriate certification.
  • Meets LDOE and BESE certification requirements.
  • Knowledge of Louisiana Student Standards for Physical Education.
  • Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Technology proficiency and commitment to professional growth.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master''s Degree in Education, Physical Education, Health Education, or related field.
  • One or more years of successful teaching experience.
  • Experience teaching elementary physical education.
  • Knowledge of adaptive PE practices and wellness initiatives.
  • Experience in a Title I school setting.
