Position: Oak Hill - Sweetser Elementary Principal 3rd & 4th grade building

Reports To: Superintendent

Contract: 215 Days & Salary and Administrative Benefit Package commensurate with

experience

Job Description:

  • Establishes and maintains an effective learning climate in the school including effectively communicating with students, staff, and parents.
  • Establishes and maintains favorable relationships with local community groups and individuals to foster understanding and solicit support for overall school objectives and programs; to interpret Board policies and administrative directives; and to discuss and resolve individual student problems.
  • Programming classes within established guides to meet students needs.
  • Supervises the guidance program to enhance individual student education and development.
  • Establishes guidelines for proper student conduct and maintains student discipline.
  • Supervises and provides strong instructional leadership to the teaching staff
  • Oversees planning, organization, and implementation of all school activities.
  • Initiates, designs, and implements programs to meet specific needs of the school.
  • Evaluates and counsels all staff members regarding their individual and group performance.
  • Attends special events held to recognize student achievement, and attend school sponsored activities, functions, and athletic events.
  • Performs such other tasks as may be assigned by the Superintendent or Board.

Personal and Professional Responsibilities:

  • Must hold a valid Indiana Administrators license.
  • Experience preferred but not required.
  • Establishes and maintains favorable relationships with local community groups and individuals to foster understanding and solicit support for overall school objectives and programs; to interpret Board policies and administrative directives; and to discuss and resolve individual student problems.
  • Support School Corporation decisions and direction relative to matters of policy and administrative directives.
  • Work as a team player.
  • Demonstrate the ability to deal with sensitive issues in a tactful and professional manner.
  • Address concerns and other suggestions in an appropriate and confidential manner.
