Job Title: Elementary Principal

SUMMARY:
Donna ISD is seeking innovative, instructional leaders to serve as potential principals at our elementary schools. Responsible for the implementation and evaluation of all instructional and programmatic activities. Work with district personnel to ensure that instructional programs result in high academic achievement for all students. The ideal candidates will demonstrate their experience and knowledge in building campus culture, as well as knowledge of curriculum, instructional practices, school improvement, social-emotional learning and supports, wellness and leadership development.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervises and evaluates the performance of staff assigned to campus including assistant principal(s), teacher(s), counselor(s), librarian(s), instructional assistants, clerical support staff, and custodians.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Master's degree from accredited university
Three years' experience as a classroom teacher Three years' experience in administrative leadership
Three years' experience as a campus principal preferred
Fully certified
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Texas principal or other appropriate Texas certificate
Certified Texas Teacher Evaluation and Support System Appraiser (TTESS) Certified Texas Principal Evaluation and Support System Appraiser (TPESS)

LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of administrators, staff, parents, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:
Working knowledge of curriculum and instruction. Ability to evaluate instructional program and teaching effectiveness. Ability to manage budget and personnel. Ability to coordinate campus functions. Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory in specific field. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and the community. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Occasional absences are understood but regular attendance is required.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Light to moderate lifting is required. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and depth perception.
This position requires meeting deadlines with severe time constraints, interacting with the public and staff, and enduring irregular or extended work hours.
The demands of extended work days (coverage of building activities and extra-curricular activities, etc.) requires a high level of physical endurance. This job requires the ability to handle and balance multiple demands at the same time.
The employee must maintain emotional control under stress.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works inside. The noise level in this environment is quiet to loud depending upon the activity in the particular part of the day and the location of the activity.
