    Elementary Reading Teacher

    LOCATION: Henry Barnard School

    Position Overview

    The Enfield Public Schools seeks a highly qualified and student-centered Elementary Reading Teacher who is committed to the district's mission and to providing high-quality, evidence-based literacy instruction. This position supports students through explicit, systematic reading instruction aligned with the Connecticut Core Standards, the Science of Reading, and the district's Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS).

    Primary Responsibilities

    • Deliver explicit, systematic, and evidence-based literacy instruction aligned with the Science of Reading, including phonological awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension
    • Provide targeted small-group and/or individualized interventions within the MTSS framework
    • Use universal screening, diagnostic assessments, and progress-monitoring data to inform instruction and adjust interventions
    • Collaborate with classroom teachers, special educators, administrators, and support staff to improve literacy outcomes
    • Support classroom instruction through push-in and pull-out service models, as appropriate
    • Participate in professional learning communities (PLCs), data team meetings, and professional development
    • Maintain accurate documentation and communicate student progress effectively with families
    • Uphold district policies, professional standards, and CT State Department of Education requirements

    Required Qualifications

    • Connecticut certification in Reading (102) or Reading Specialist (097)
    • Demonstrated knowledge of evidence-based early literacy instruction and intervention
    • Experience using student data to drive instructional decision-making
    • Strong collaboration, communication, and organizational skills

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Training in Science of Reading, structured literacy
    • Experience working within an MTSS
    • Experience supporting diverse learners, including students with disabilities and English Learners

    Compensation

    Salary and benefits accordance with the Enfield Education Association collective bargaining agreement.
