We are seeking an enthusiastic and innovative educator to join our team as a full-time Elementary School Art Teacher. The ideal candidate will have a passion for developing in each student an understanding of creative expression through the field of Art. Provide a flexible class environment favorable to learning and individual growth. Motivate students to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge sufficient for a solid foundation in the arts in accordance with each student's abilities.

Responsibilities:

Teach art knowledge and skills, including drawing, painting, and lettering

Provide instruction for students to develop the ability to make qualitative judgments about art and art history, in addition to related aesthetic concepts and appreciations

Demonstrate and share techniques in activities such as drawing and painting

Provide individual and small-group instruction to adapt the art curriculum to the needs of students with varying intellectual and artistic abilities

Establish and maintain standards of student behavior required to achieve a functional learning classroom environment

Prepare, administer, and assess to evaluate students' progress

Establish and utilize productive relationships with students'' families

Meet and confer with parents/guardians to discuss their student's progress and objectives

Maintain accurate and complete student records in accordance with district policies and state requirements

Enforce administration policies and rules governing assigned students and class activities

Plan and facilitate class projects, field trips, visits by guest speakers or other experiential activities, and guide students in learning from these opportunities

Participate cooperatively with the building principal or other administrators in activities providing for teacher performance evaluations and educator effectiveness in accordance with district policies and state requirements

Collaborate with other staff members on student achievement and instructional methods

Attend staff meetings and serve on committees as required

Sponsor extracurricular activities such as clubs, student organizations, and academic contests

Maintain a current education knowledge base through educator networks, educational workshops and professional publications

Additional duties as deemed appropriate at the sole discretion of district leadership.

Qualifications:

Current Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction teaching certificate required for the assigned instructional area(s). Related bachelor''s degree from an accredited university. Technology skills appropriate for the assigned instructional area(s)

Strong instructional skills with the ability to differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of students.

Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Commitment to fostering an inclusive and culturally responsive learning environment.

Preferred Experience:

PLC (Professional Learning Communities)

Understanding of Science of Reading strategies in the art classroom

PBIS
