Qualifications:

  • High School diploma.
  • Current Serv Safe Certificate .
  • 2-4 years food production experience and/or management experience in USDA / MA school lunch program.
  • Computer proficient.
  • The ability to interact with students, staff and administration effectively; the ability to communicate verbally and in writing; the ability to handle stressful situations; and the ability to show initiative.
  • Flexibility is a must.
  • Successful completion of a Criminal Record Check (C.O.R.I.) and fingerprint check.

Duties and Responsibilities

Purchasing/Cost Control

  • Places all food orders as required; follows ordering procedures and timeframes.
  • Receive invoices from vendors, record, and submits to Director.
  • Communicates issues to the Director regarding vendor/produce performance.

Reports

  • Ensures daily food production records are completed daily; checks for accuracy and monitors results.
  • Gather and submit data for monthly inventory, accurately, and on time.
  • Maintains daily and monthly records for refrigeration/freezer temps, food temps, and sanitation.
  • Conducts POS register closeout, draw balances and readings.
  • Prepares bank deposits and deposits money in bank daily. Submits daily deposit slips to Director weekly.

Meal Preparation and Service

  • Knows and enforces all regulations regarding the proper handling of food, chemicals, and paper products, as stated in the Massachusetts Food Code.
  • Trains staff monthly on required inservices as provided by the Director; ensures staff compliance and 100% attendance.
  • Knows how, and trains staff how, to care for and use kitchen equipment (including tilt-skillets, steamer, meat slicer, large kettles, and ovens).
  • Ensures staff is accurately following recipes and performing various food preparation throughout the day (i.e., safe food handling procedures) and serving breakfast and lunch to USDA standards.
  • Responsible for employee schedules and staffing, maintaining staffing budget, and appropriately managing shortages, such as sick calls and personal days.
  • Assumes other duties as assigned by the Director.

  • Demonstrates knowledge and willingness to undertake a work assignment without supervision.
  • Reports to work on time, as scheduled, and maintains a good attendance record.
  • Capable of lifting up to 30 pounds.
  • Able to read, write, and follow directions in English.
  • Able to perform simple math functions.
  • Able to work quickly and accurately according to work routine. Able to perform physical work

efficiently, with long periods of standing, twisting, bending and moving about. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb, or balance, stoop, kneel or crouch.

Work as an effective member of the Pentucket Regional School District staff.

  • Maintain the same level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as is expected of all teachers and administrators.
  • Responsible for being prompt and dependable.
  • Establish an effective working relationship with classroom teachers, parents, specialists, and administrators.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervising administrator.
  • Participate in staff development programs as assigned.
