Position Details
Zeeland Public Schools has an excellent opportunity for an Elementary Principal at Lincoln Elementary School. The responsibility of the Elementary School Principal is to organize and administer the school in order that the entire organization operates at maximum effectiveness for the growth and development of its students and staff. Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain a positive and productive school culture.
- Provide curriculum leadership in your building and on district-level committees.
- Monitor the implementation, supervision, and evaluation of the instructional program.
- Perform necessary paperwork for School Improvement, accreditation and State and Federal requirements.
- Lead school improvement efforts in the building.
- Analyze data relating to school performance on local, state and national assessments.
- Supervise the testing and special education screening process.
- Monitor student and staff records for the building.
- Plan and supervise the budget of the building.
- Administer the ordering of supplies, textbooks and equipment within the approved budget.
- Interview, recommend, assign, train, coach and dismiss staff members for an effective instructional program.
- Supervise personnel under his/her jurisdiction.
- Counsel with students, teachers and parents.
- Enforce policies and procedures of the Board of Education.
- Act as a liaison between the district and community and promote positive relations.
- Attend staff development opportunities.
- Create a building schedule for specialists and building handbook of rules.
- Provide parent and staff communication for the building.
- Maintain a building calendar.
- Monitor the safety and maintenance of the facility.
Qualifications:
- Must possess a teaching certificate (valid or expired), three or more years of successful teaching or related experience, a Master's degree (or working towards a degree in Educational Leadership), and meet State of Michigan requirements for administrative certification.
- Must demonstrate leadership, team building skills and demonstrate the ability to work with students.
- Communication skills are critical, with a wide variety of stakeholders, including staff, parents, students and district administrators.
- Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize and work independently.
- Must be proficient in current technology for performance of duties and have the ability to analyze relevant information and data.
- Knowledge of current best practice in educational methodology and state and federal regulations related to education is desired.
- Must understand child growth and development, as well as trauma-informed practices and PBIS (positive behavior interventions and supports).
- Must understand the school improvement process/plan.
- Lincoln houses the district Spanish Immersion program so experience with Spanish Immersion is preferred, but not required.
