The Live Oak School District is seeking an exceptional school leader to assume the principalship of Green Acres Elementary School. The District is looking for an individual who can lead and empower a talented staff to build upon an outstanding educational program. The principal should possess, and have demonstrated, success working with students and families in a socio-economic and culturally diverse setting. We seek a visionary educator who values a rich, well-rounded education that embraces both artistic expression and applied scientific inquiry. The ideal candidate will support and expand opportunities for arts integration and project-based learning across all disciplines, ensuring that creativity, innovation, and critical thinking are embedded throughout the school culture. The leader must also champion the continued growth of effective programs already in place at Green Acres School while advancing a robust STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) learning environment.

The Position

The Live Oak School District is seeking an outstanding educational leader to assume the principalship of Green Acres School. The District is looking for an individual who can lead and empower an effective and talented staff in building upon a superior educational program. The principal should possess, and have demonstrated, sensitivity to the type of diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic populations that comprise the District. He or she needs to be able to maintain and expand the many positive programs that have been launched within both the District and community.

The District understands that candidates are likely to possess traits and skills in varying degrees, and seeks an individual who demonstrates the "best fit" to the position. Applicants with the following qualifications and characteristics are encouraged to apply:

ACADEMIC PREPARATION AND TRAINING

  • Successful teaching experience (K-8)
  • Recent school site administrative experience
  • Master's Degree
  • Current Administrative Services Credential preferred
  • Intern candidates will be accepted from participating universities

PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS

  • Has excellent communication skills, both oral and written, and is able to interact effectively with parents, local community, and city officials
  • Has a talent for building staff morale and eliciting high performance, as well as the ability to create an atmosphere for employees that promotes professional satisfaction and trust
  • Is self-confident, open, honest, innovative, intuitive, and possesses a sense of humor
  • Believes in being accessible to all - students, staff, parents, and community - and maintains high visibility throughout the school

PROFESSIONAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Has a vision of how the school might meet the demands of the 21st century
  • Has strong curriculum leadership skills to develop, implement, and evaluate current up-to-date educational theory, technology, and instructional techniques with a commitment to align curriculum offerings with students' needs while cognizant of state mandates
  • Spanish bilingual fluency desired
  • Has commitment to the importance of community and parent interest and involvement in the schools
  • Is knowledgeable in fiscal matters and can manage the site budget and resources in a responsible manner, as well as the ability to seek and find innovative new funding sources
  • Has a willingness to become an active and contributing member of the school community and be comfortable with high visibility and accessibility
  • Has a record which suggests that he or she will be sensitive and responsive to the unique educational needs, concerns, and aspirations of all segments of the community, which includes diverse ethnic, multicultural, and socio-economic individuals and groups, and who can gain the confidence and trust of all.
