Responsible for the overall administration of the school site, including the direction and supervision of the educational program, curriculum development, guidance services, public relations, personnel, and business management in accordance with Board and Administrative policies.

DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:

Responsible for the overall administration of the school site, including the direction and supervision of the educational program, curriculum development, guidance services, public relations, personnel, and business management in accordance with Board and Administrative policies.

TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides leadership to the school staff in interpreting District policies, defining and clarifying educational objectives, and stimulating high levels of job performance.
  • Plans, directs, and evaluates the instructional program in the school.
  • Assigns, supervises, and evaluates staff.
  • Assists teachers with programs and problems relating to pupils and instruction.
  • Confers and counsels with pupils, teachers, and parents.
  • Establishes and maintains cooperative relationships with parents and community groups.
  • Develops a program within the school that will promote feelings of self-worth and positive attitudes toward school and community.
  • Directs and supervises the business and maintenance operation of the school in accordance with District policy and administrative procedures.
  • Coordinates the work of all support services within the total school.
  • Supervises the development and implementation of school rules.
  • Communicates with the community through agencies and parent organizations.
  • Communicates and collaborates with families in a positive and constructive manner in order to develop strong partnerships.
  • Maintains professional competency by attendance at District and regional staff development conferences and workshops.
  • Provides leadership for the establishment and maintenance of standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve effective participation in learning activities.
  • Provides leadership for the creation of an effective environment for learning, especially in the areas of Professional Learning Communities (PLCs).
  • Uses data effectively as part of the decision-making process.
  • Other duties relating to the efficient operation of the school site and as assigned by the superintendent.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

  • Possession of a valid California Administrative and Teaching Credentials
  • Master's Degree
  • Teaching experience K-8
  • Expertise in elementary school curriculum, instruction, assessment, and Common Core State Standards.
  • Positive interpersonal skills, professional and personal integrity, and a commitment to openness and honesty.

Desired:

  • Record of being an effective, visible, and accessible educator who recognizes the importance of teamwork
  • Ability to establish cooperative working relationships with staff, administrators, students, and community members
  • Bilingual ability (Spanish/English)
  • Successful experience as an administrator
