Primary Function: The School Psychologist serves as a critical member of the Oxford Community Schools team, working to fulfill the district's Vision of Empowering Learners, Building Community, and Inspiring Futures. The incumbent will directly support the district's goals for Safe, Supportive, & Connected Schools and Knowledgeable, Critical Thinkers, & Communicators. This role supports the academic, social, emotional, and behavioral growth of students by:
- Facilitating the assessment process for students requiring specialized instruction, ensuring a supportive, safe, and opportunity-rich educational experience that fosters belonging.
- Strengthening trauma-informed student support systems to increase student psychological safety and wellbeing.
- Participating in a data-driven Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) to promote student success, wellbeing, and safety.
Qualifications â Education & Experience:
- Valid State of Michigan School Psychologist License.
- Specialist-level degree (Ed.S.) or a Master's degree in School Psychology that meets state licensure requirements, required.
- Demonstrated experience working within an MTSS/RtI framework and utilizing data-driven decision-making.
- Demonstrated success in staff development with an ability to work effectively with individuals and groups.
- Expert knowledge in special education law (IDEA) and evidence-based educational and behavioral interventions.
- Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
- Leadership skills and desire to work as part of a collaborative team.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Serve as evaluation coordinator of initial evaluations and reevaluations for Special Education eligibility, including the development of REEDs and obtaining consent to evaluate.
- Conduct comprehensive psychological assessments (cognitive, academic, behavioral, social, and emotional domains), interpret results, and participate in IEP conferences, team meetings, and problem-solving meetings.
- Develop and edit comprehensive evaluation reports and is the lead facilitator of Multidisciplinary Evaluation Team (MET) meetings, ensuring adherence to the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).
- Adhere strictly to Special Education compliance timelines.
- Lead crisis intervention efforts, serve on threat assessment and suicide assessment teams, and provide short-term mental health support or referrals as part of the student support continuum.
- Provide insight into the development of Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) and evidence-based Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs).
- Provide assistance to staff in the design and implementation of appropriate academic, behavioral, and emotional interventions and accommodations for students.
- Coordinate and facilitate problem-solving meetings as part of the MTSS process, utilizing academic and behavioral data to drive intervention planning and monitor student progress.
- Serve on district-wide substitute rotation for urgent, unplanned coverage of specialized psychological services as needed.
- Provide support services and psychoeducation to parents/guardians as needed.
- Provide and/or assist in professional development for staff, parents, and/or community on topics such as mental health, behavior management, and data analysis.
- Maintain regular and predictable in-person attendance.
- Support the OCS vision and mission.
- Other duties as assigned.
