The School District of New Berlin is seeking a compassionate and student-centered School Psychologist to join the Poplar Creek Elementary team. This role is vital in supporting the "whole child," working to remove barriers to learning and fostering a safe, healthy, and supportive school environment. You will serve as a key advocate for students'' mental health, learning, and behavior, collaborating closely with families and educators to help every student thrive.

Candidates must demonstrate consistent proficiency in the following components:

Domain 1: Planning and Preparation

  • Intervention Design: Develop and implement data-driven academic and behavioral interventions tailored to individual student needs.

  • Collaboration: Partner with teachers and administrators to plan school-wide supports and social-emotional learning (SEL) initiatives.

  • Systems Support: Assist in analyzing school-wide data to identify trends and proactively address student needs.

Domain 2: Learning Environment

  • Student Rapport: Establish trusting relationships with students to ensure a safe space for social-emotional growth.

  • Positive Climate: Work to foster a school culture of inclusion, efficacy, and intellectual direction for all learners.

  • Crisis Response: Provide immediate support and guidance during sensitive or high-stress situations.

Domain 3: Service Delivery

  • Direct Support: Provide individual and group counseling or skill-building sessions for students.

  • Progress Monitoring: Utilize evidence-based tools to track the effectiveness of interventions and adjust strategies accordingly.

  • Technology Integration: Leverage educational technology and data management systems to enhance student support and communication.

Domain 4: Professional Responsibilities

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Effectively communicate with parents and guardians regarding student progress and mental health resources.

  • Professional Teamwork: Work collaboratively with the "Specials" team and grade-level teachers to integrate wellness into the daily curriculum.

  • Continuous Growth: Engage in life-long learning to stay current on mental health best practices and trauma-informed care.

Education & Licensure

  • Master's Degree or Educational Specialist (Ed.S.) degree in School Psychology.
  • Must hold (or be eligible for) a valid Wisconsin DPI School Psychologist license (7062)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) and Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS).

  • Familiarity with district software (e.g., Infinite Campus) and trauma-sensitive teaching practices.

  • Bilingual skills or experience working with diverse student populations.
