The teacher uses various teaching methods including lecture and demonstration audiovisual aids and other materials to supplement presentations with the ultimate objective of preparing students for advanced education andor the job market. Certification in the academic subject area is required. This is a ten-month position. Teachers are represented by the American Federation of Teachers AFT.Duties and ResponsibilitiesPrepares course objectives and outlines for course of study following the curriculum guidelines and requirements of the territory and schoolPrepares materials and classroom for class activitiesAssigns lessons and corrects homeworkAdministers tests to evaluate pupil progress records results and issues reports to inform parents of progressKeeps attendance records and maintains accurate and complete student records as required by law district policies and administrative regulationMaintains discipline in classroom and enforces all administration policies and rules governing studentsMeets with parentsguardians to discuss their childrens progress and to determine priorities and resource needs for their childrenConfers with parentsguardians other teachers counselors and administrators in order to resolve students behavioral and academic problemsParticipates in faculty and professional meetings educational conferences and teacher training workshopsPerforms related duties such as sponsoring one or more activities or student organizations assisting pupils in selecting course of study other duties as designated by the PrincipalMinimum QualificationsBachelors degree inclusive of thirty 36 semester credits in Elementary EducationorMasters degree from an accredited college or
