The Spanish teacher is responsible for teaching students in grades 1-5 at Alcott Elementary School. Students receive Spanish instruction for 25 - minutes twice per week.
The program is based on the ACTFL World-Readiness Standards for Learning Languages, also known as the five Cs; Communication, Cultures, Connections, Comparisons, and Communities, and the MA DESE Frameworks. The program aims to develop proficiency in Spanish with a focus on interpersonal listening and speaking skills. Students learn through developmentally appropriate songs, games, theater, and other learning activities that support learning the Spanish language and becoming familiar with the various cultures of the Spanish-speaking world. All teaching and learning take place using Spanish for 85% of the lesson.
