QUALIFICATIONS:
Must have valid certification from the Department of Public Instruction as a teacher or willing to become certified
Any or all of the following WI DPI Special Education Certifications: #1810, 1811, 1801 or 1830
Prefered, but not required is an interest in working with students who need regulation support more than other special education students
Demonstrates ability to carry out emergency/crisis response procedures
Knowledge of NVCI Training

Southern Door School District is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher with a strong understanding of regulatory needs and the ability to support students in achieving success both academically and emotionally. The ideal candidate has a deep knowledge of concepts of regulation, understands how to meet students where they are, and is committed to creating a structured, supportive, and inclusive learning environment. Main responsibilities for this position include supporting students accessing and thriving either in their regular education classrooms, special education classroom and curriculum, supporting in their emotional and behavioral regulation, meeting their IEP goals, and achieving at their highest level. The ideal candidate is knowledgeable about how to meet students regulatory needs by supporting, encouraging, and maintaining a focus on what''s best for students. It is important for the candidate to have knowledge and skills in implementing best practices for working with students with disabilities, effective consultation and collaboration with others, and a solid instructional and behavioral background. The individual hired for this position will have knowledge or a willingness to learn and incorporate academic interventions, and a strong knowledge of the Wisconsin Learning Standards.
