    DESCRIPTION

    Elementary Special Education Instructional Coach

    POSITION SUMMARY:

    Provide daily instruction for students in accordance with Board approved curriculum. Language & Learning Disabilities (LLD) Mild/Moderate, Pull-Out Resource, and In-Class Resource.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    Comprehensive Instructional Support:

    • Collaborate with special education teachers to design, implement, and evaluate individualized education plans (IEPs) and instructional strategies for students in both pull-out and in-class resource settings.
    • Develop and adapt curriculum and instructional materials to accommodate diverse learning needs, incorporating Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles to create inclusive and accessible learning environments.
    • Support small group instruction planning to provide targeted interventions and personalized support for students with varying needs.

    Professional Development and Training:

    • Provide targeted training and support to special education teachers and staff on topics including but not limited to, evidence-based practices, UDL strategies, and instruction techniques.
    • Facilitate workshops and ongoing professional development sessions to enhance educators'' skills in delivering high-quality, differentiated instruction and interventions.

    Data-Driven Decision Making:

    • Analyze student performance data across various programs to identify trends, assess instructional effectiveness, and guide improvements.
    • Assist teachers in using assessment tools and progress monitoring techniques to track student progress, adjust instructional approaches, and refine small group instruction.

    Collaboration and Coordination:

    • Partner with building content coaches to align special education strategies with the general curriculum and integrate UDL principles to support diverse learners.
    • Work with child study teams to support the identification and implementation of effective interventions for students with diverse needs.
    • Collaborate with behavior specialists to implement behavior intervention plans (BIPs) and strategies that support positive student behavior and engagement.

    Behavioral and Classroom Support:

    • Provide guidance on small group instruction, instructional techniques to promote positive student outcomes and engagement in both pull-out and inclusive settings, and effective behavioral support.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Appropriate New Jersey Certification required: K6 Teacher of the Handicapped (TOH), Teacher of Students with Disabilities (TOSWD)
    • Minimum of three years successful Special Education teaching experience
    • Ability to maintain a positive learning environment
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
    • Compliance with the NJ FIRST Act
    • Successful Criminal History Clearance
    • Proof of U.S. Citizenship or appropriate employment authorization

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bilingual/Multilingual
    • Master's degree in education or related field
    • Knowledge of effective professional learning practices

    TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

    10 - Month Contract. Salary and benefits as determined by the Board of Education and any

    applicable and collective negotiations agreement.

    COMPENSATION

    In accordance with the provisions of the BOE/FTEA collective bargaining agreement, the salary range for this position in the 26/27 SY is Step 1 BA/BS ($68,023) - Step 18 PhD/EdD ($99,380). Compensation will be commensurate with experience and education.

    ANNUAL EVALUATION: Performance is reviewed annually in accordance with NJ State law

    and the provisions of the Board of Education policy on evaluations for certificated staff.

    TECHNOLOGY SKILLS: Ability to be proficient in computer applications pertinent to support the position, including but not limited Google Suite, IEP software program and Genesis Employee Portal and Student Information System.
