DESCRIPTION Madison District Public Schools is seeking a Special Education Paraprofessional for our elementary classrooms. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with children, strong communication skills, and the ability to adapt to the individual needs of students.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with staff and students
  • General knowledge of academic subjects relevant to position assignment
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic, fast-paced school environment
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and follow instructions
  • Ability to attend to behavioral/academic needs of assigned students while following prescribed behavioral management or instructional programs
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively/cooperatively with student, parent, and staff

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist teachers in delivering instructional and behavioral support to students with disabilities
  • Support students individually, in small groups or in large groups in various school settings under the direction of the classroom teacher
  • Maintain a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment
  • Provide for the well-being and safety of those students assigned to their care
  • Follow Federal Law, State Law, and District polices/procedures at all times
  • Other duties as assigned by the lead teacher or administrator
