DESCRIPTION
Madison District Public Schools is seeking a Special Education Paraprofessional for our elementary classrooms. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with children, strong communication skills, and the ability to adapt to the individual needs of students.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with staff and students
- General knowledge of academic subjects relevant to position assignment
- Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic, fast-paced school environment
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and follow instructions
- Ability to attend to behavioral/academic needs of assigned students while following prescribed behavioral management or instructional programs
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively/cooperatively with student, parent, and staff
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist teachers in delivering instructional and behavioral support to students with disabilities
- Support students individually, in small groups or in large groups in various school settings under the direction of the classroom teacher
- Maintain a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment
- Provide for the well-being and safety of those students assigned to their care
- Follow Federal Law, State Law, and District polices/procedures at all times
- Other duties as assigned by the lead teacher or administrator
