The Bangor School District is looking for an elementary cross categorical special education teacher. We are looking for an individual who has the ability to collaborate as part of the PLC process with special and general education team members to support student progress and programming. Effective communication with parents and team members is essential. This teacher will support inclusive practices across all school settings. Experience in delivering specialized instruction to address student needs in academic and functional areas while monitoring progress and interpreting data to make instructional decisions is needed. Knowledge of strategies, tools and evidence-based practices to work with students with early academic and behavioral needs, as well as the ability to work with school teams to develop behavioral plans, social stories, visual strategies, and self-advocacy for independence. The teacher should also be able to use assistive technology tools for helping to support students. Ability to support classroom programming and teacher paraprofessionals for carryover in all settings is also desired. Willingness to learn on the job and function as part of a school team focused on student growth and success. Requirements also include initial evaluations, maintenance of records, and reporting student data as required.
