Position Details

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure IEP compliance standards are followed, implemented, and reviewed.
  • Modify and adapt the general education curriculum to meet the needs of all students.
  • Utilize a data-informed approach to progress monitoring and evaluate the effectiveness of special instruction and support.
  • Ability to navigate sensitive conversations with families with empathy and clarity.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school-wide events.
  • Supervise students in the classroom and other school settings.
  • Adhere to all school policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field.
  • Valid State of Michigan teaching certification with Special Education endorsement.
  • Awareness of the physical, social, emotional, and mental development of the students.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues.
  • A passion for fostering a love of learning and a commitment to student success.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check.

Physical Demand

  • Must be able to successfully complete CPI (Nonviolent Crisis Intervention) training.
  • Ability to maintain focus in a high-stimulation environment with frequent interruptions.
  • Ability to lift, move, bend, kneel, and sit on the floor to engage with elementary students.
