School: District (one of five elementary schools)

Reports To: Principal

Start Date: Immediate

Compensation: $57,847-$114,618 (full-time annual)

Our district has an opening for an anticipated grade K-6 elementary teacher who will work under the direction of the school Principal to provide an exceptional and nurturing learning environment where students feel safe, valued and respected. On a daily basis the teacher will deliver instruction, continually assess student progress and growth, provide ongoing student supervision, regularly share written and verbal feedback with students and families, maintain records of student performance, and continually seek to develop professionally to bring the most current and innovative learning practices to the classroom.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Partner with colleagues to plan, create and deliver daily lesson plans;
  • Provide instruction (individually and in groups) using a variety of teaching methods to meet the needs of students with diverse learning styles and varying needs/interests;
  • Prepare materials for classroom activities;
  • Observe, assess and communicate student progress (academic, behavioral, social, physical);
  • Manage classroom behavior and employ positive behavior practices to drive culture/climate;
  • Prepare and implement remedial programs for students requiring additional support;
  • Explore and deliver creative class experiential activities;
  • Actively participate in wide variety of school day and extracurricular events as planned, including activities centered around professional development;
  • Responsibly fulfill additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree;
  • Current Connecticut Teacher Elementary Certification (013, 305);
  • Excellent oral communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to work cooperatively with other office personnel;
  • Ability to handle and treat information confidentially;
  • Ability to relate effectively with staff, parents, students and the public;
  • Ability to plan and organize work schedule and set priorities;
  • Ability to work independently and with a sense of urgency;
  • Ability to motivate students, inspire trust and confidence in students, while working with patience and understanding.
