MSD of Shakamak is seeking a student-centered, collaborative, and highly effective Elementary Teacher to join our team. This position is responsible for providing high-quality instruction aligned to Indiana Academic Standards while fostering a positive, engaging, and supportive classroom environment.
The ideal candidate will prioritize student learning, build strong relationships, and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and school pride.
Essential Responsibilites
- Plan and deliver engaging, standards-aligned instruction
- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse academic and developmental needs of students
- Use formative and summative assessment data to guide instruction and monitor student progress
- Create a safe, inclusive, and positive classroom environment that supports student growth
- Establish clear expectations for student behavior and promote accountability
- Collaborate with grade-level teams, instructional staff, and administration
- Communicate effectively and consistently with students, families, and colleagues
- Support students social, emotional, and behavioral development
- Maintain accurate records, including grades, attendance, and required documentation
- Participate in professional development and school improvement initiatives
- Ensure compliance with all district, state, and federal requirements
Qualifications
- Valid Indiana teaching license in Elementary Education (or ability to obtain)
- Strong understanding of Indiana Academic Standards and instructional best practices
- Knowledge of assessment practices and data-driven instruction
- Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and staff
- Strong classroom management and organizational skills
- Commitment to collaboration, professionalism, and continuous growth
Preferred Qulifications
- Experience with IREAD, ILEARN or similar state assessment systems
- Background in implementing evidence-based instructional strategies
- Experience working in a rural or small school setting
