MSD of Shakamak is seeking a student-centered, collaborative, and highly effective Elementary Teacher to join our team. This position is responsible for providing high-quality instruction aligned to Indiana Academic Standards while fostering a positive, engaging, and supportive classroom environment.

The ideal candidate will prioritize student learning, build strong relationships, and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and school pride.

Essential Responsibilites

  • Plan and deliver engaging, standards-aligned instruction
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse academic and developmental needs of students
  • Use formative and summative assessment data to guide instruction and monitor student progress
  • Create a safe, inclusive, and positive classroom environment that supports student growth
  • Establish clear expectations for student behavior and promote accountability
  • Collaborate with grade-level teams, instructional staff, and administration
  • Communicate effectively and consistently with students, families, and colleagues
  • Support students social, emotional, and behavioral development
  • Maintain accurate records, including grades, attendance, and required documentation
  • Participate in professional development and school improvement initiatives
  • Ensure compliance with all district, state, and federal requirements

Qualifications

  • Valid Indiana teaching license in Elementary Education (or ability to obtain)
  • Strong understanding of Indiana Academic Standards and instructional best practices
  • Knowledge of assessment practices and data-driven instruction
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and staff
  • Strong classroom management and organizational skills
  • Commitment to collaboration, professionalism, and continuous growth

Preferred Qulifications

  • Experience with IREAD, ILEARN or similar state assessment systems
  • Background in implementing evidence-based instructional strategies
  • Experience working in a rural or small school setting
