Elementary Teacher (Grades 3–5)

Teaching Matters Here

Prelude Prep is a tuition-free public charter school serving students in Pre-K through 8th grade in San Antonio.

We believe great teaching changes lives. Our success is built on strong relationships, high expectations, and a team of educators committed to helping every student grow.

We are looking for a 3rd–5th Grade Teacher who believes all students can succeed, enjoys building meaningful relationships with children and families, and is committed to continuously improving their craft.

Whether you are an experienced educator or just beginning your teaching journey, we are looking for someone who is coachable, hardworking, and excited to make a difference.

Why Teachers Choose Prelude Prep

Teachers choose Prelude Prep because they are supported.

Our teachers receive:

• Weekly instructional coaching

• Daily planning time

• Paid summer professional development

• A dedicated half-day each week for collaboration and professional learning

• High-quality curriculum and instructional resources

• Leadership support when challenges arise

• Opportunities for growth and leadership

At Prelude Prep, teachers are not expected to manage everything alone. We maintain clear expectations for student behavior, partner closely with families, and work together to create classrooms where learning comes first.

What You'll Do

As a 3rd–5th Grade Teacher, you will help students deepen their reading, writing, and mathematical thinking while preparing them for future academic success. These are the years when students develop independence, tackle increasingly complex content, and begin to discover what they are capable of achieving.

Responsibilities include:

• Deliver engaging, standards-aligned instruction in reading, writing, mathematics, and other assigned content areas

• Create a structured classroom environment where students are challenged to think critically, persevere through difficulty, and take ownership of their learning

• Use student data to identify strengths, address gaps, and adjust instruction

• Build strong relationships with students and families

• Collaborate with colleagues to improve outcomes for students

• Participate actively in coaching, planning, and professional development

• Contribute positively to the culture and mission of the school

What We're Looking For

Successful candidates will demonstrate:

• A belief that every student can succeed

• Strong instructional instincts and a passion for helping students grow academically

• Strong communication and relationship-building skills

• A growth mindset and willingness to receive feedback

• Professionalism, reliability, and initiative

• The ability to maintain high expectations while building strong relationships

• A commitment to continuous improvement

• A passion for helping students achieve more than they thought possible

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university

• Ability to pass a criminal background check

• Eligibility to work in the United States

Preferred

• Texas teaching certification

• Previous classroom teaching experience

• Experience working with children through tutoring, coaching, mentoring, childcare, camps, after-school programs, or similar settings

• Knowledge of curriculum, instruction, and student assessment

We recognize that great educators come from many different backgrounds. If you're excited about this role but don't meet every preferred qualification, we still encourage you to apply.

Compensation and Benefits

• Salary: $55,000–$65,000

• Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS)

• Medical, dental, and vision insurance

• Employer-paid life insurance

• Optional supplemental insurance benefits

• Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

• Optional 403(b) retirement savings plan

• Weekly coaching and professional development

• Certification support for eligible employees

• Opportunities for leadership and career growth

We Value Initiative

Interested candidates should apply online and are encouraged to follow up with our team.

We appreciate educators who take ownership, advocate for themselves, and demonstrate genuine interest in becoming part of the Prelude Prep community.

If you're looking for a school where your work matters, your growth is supported, and your impact is visible, we'd love to hear from you.
