Lake Washington School District is looking for qualified candidates to fill a Elementary Teaching and Learning Specialist (TOSA) 1.0 FTE continuing position.
SUMMARY The Elementary Teaching and Learning Specialist provides instructional support for the elementary Instructional Coaching program in Lake Washington School District. This position is responsible for strengthening the knowledge, skills, and impact of building-based Instructional Coaches to improve teaching and learning across the district. A primary focus of the role is developing coaches' expertise in evidence-based literacy instruction and supporting the successful implementation of the district's elementary literacy resources through high-quality, job-embedded coaching. The Elementary Teaching and Learning Specialist facilitates and coordinates collaboration across departments, programs, schools, and district leaders to ensure a comprehensive, coherent approach to professional learning and instructional improvement. The role includes designing and facilitating ongoing professional learning for Instructional Coaches, supporting content-specific pedagogy, collaborative inquiry, and the examination of problems of practice. The Elementary Teaching and Learning Specialist also provides meta-coaching that strengthens coaches' ability to partner with teachers, use evidence of student learning to inform coaching, and improve instructional practice. In addition, the Elementary Teaching and Learning Specialist helps oversee the implementation and continuous improvement of the elementary Instructional Coaching program, including onboarding new coaches, coordinating program operations, monitoring implementation, and using multiple sources of data to evaluate program effectiveness. The Elementary Teaching and Learning Specialist will report to the Director of Elementary Teaching and Learning and work collaboratively with other district and building leaders to help ensure that coaching across the district is aligned, responsive to school needs, and focused on improving student outcomes.
Salary: Paid per teacher salary schedule, plus 21 extra days and stipend contract. Tier 1 Compensation package - See Appendix N - TOSA Matrix of the LWSD LWEA Contract 2023-2027 for reference.
Additional Technology stipend and Professional Fund. See LWEA salary schedule posted on website. Full benefit package available for employees working a minimum of 630 hours during the school year.

WORK ENVIRONMENT Generally, the job requires 80% sitting, 10% walking, and 10% standing. The job is performed indoors under minimal temperature changes and a generally hazard free environment.
