QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Possesses a valid NJ Principal Certification
  • Demonstrates leadership skills, interpersonal abilities, and professional dispositions necessary to work effectively with students, staff, families, and fellow administrators
  • Has a minimum of five years of successful elementary classroom teaching experience
  • Public school administration experience preferred but not required

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides leadership for the development, implementation, supervision, and evaluation of a comprehensive educational program aligned with district goals, Board policies, and state standards.
  • Oversees the alignment, coordination, delivery, and continuous improvement of curriculum, instruction, and assessment programs.
  • Promotes high-quality instructional practices and fosters a culture of academic excellence and high expectations for all students.
  • Uses student achievement and assessment data to guide instructional decision-making, school improvement planning, and program evaluation.
  • Supports and monitors the implementation of district curriculum initiatives and instructional priorities.
  • Facilitates professional learning opportunities that build staff capacity and improve instructional effectiveness.
  • Ensures equitable access to rigorous learning opportunities and appropriate supports for all students.
  • Supervises and evaluates certified and non-certified staff in accordance with state law, Board policy, and district procedures.
  • Recruits, selects, and recommends highly qualified instructional and support staff.
  • Models professional leadership, ethical conduct, and high expectations for staff performance.
  • Fosters a collaborative school culture that promotes professional growth, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Oversees student support services and facilitates programs that address the academic, social, emotional, and behavioral needs of students.
  • Maintains high standards of student conduct and administers discipline in accordance with Board policy, district procedures, and due process requirements.
  • Promotes a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment for all students and staff.
  • Assists with the overall administration and daily operations of the school.
  • Develops and administers the school budget and makes recommendations regarding the allocation of resources to support instructional priorities.
  • Oversees the maintenance, safety, and effective utilization of school facilities and grounds, and makes recommendations regarding short- and long-range facility needs.
  • Serves on district and school committees and attends meetings as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Superintendent or designee.
  • Contract terms: 12 months/1 year

Salary: In accordance with the established Morris School District Salary Guide currently ranging from $103k - $115k

Benefits: Full-time employees are eligible for medical, prescription, and dental benefits.

Effective September 1, 2011, The New Jersey First Act implemented May 17, 2011, requires all employees of a school district to reside in the state of New Jersey. Employees of the Morris School District hired after the effective date who do not reside in the State of New Jersey at the time of hire have one year from the effective date of employment to relocate their primary residence to New Jersey. Employees of the school district hired prior to the September 1, 2011 effective date of this Act are grandfathered and are not required to relocate to New Jersey.
