Job Summary

This is a fixed-term, renewable instructional position responsible for teaching one section of the .25 adjunct course CC110: CC Elevate I or CC111: CC Elevate II. The course is capped at 16 students and meets weekly for one hour, from 5-6pm, during weeks 1-3 of each block. During the fourth week of each block, instructors participate in instructional circles with other teachers to reflect on their teaching practices and share insights. The instructor will be responsible for delivering engaging lessons, providing feedback on student assignments, and attending a mandatory 3 1/2-day training during the summer. The instructor''s teaching will be reviewed annually by the Director of the First-Year Program.

Responsibilities

  • Teach one section of CC110: CC Elevate I or CC111: CC Elevate II to a cohort of 16 students, following a set curriculum provided by the Office of Academic Programs
  • Develop and deliver engaging, informative lessons that align with the course objectives and support students'' academic and personal growth, while adhering to the established curriculum
  • Serve as a mentor and resource for students, helping them navigate the challenges of their first two years at Colorado College
  • Foster a sense of community and belonging within the classroom, creating a supportive environment that encourages student success
  • Provide timely and constructive feedback on student assignments to support their learning and development
  • Attend a mandatory 3-day training during the summer to prepare for the course and collaborate with other instructors
  • Participate in instructional circles with other teachers during the fourth week of each block to reflect on teaching practices, share insights, and identify areas for improvement
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, participation, and performance
  • Participate in an annual review process with the Director of the First-Year Program to evaluate teaching effectiveness and identify areas for growth and improvement

Minimum Qualifications

  • Advanced or terminal degree in a relevant field
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to engage and support students from diverse backgrounds
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior teaching experience at the college level, with a demonstrated ability to engage and support first- and second-year students

Anticipated Hiring Salary Range:

  • $1,300 per semester
