Elevator Mechanic

Locations: Charleston North Charleston Summerville Goose Creek Mount Pleasant Ladson Hanahan Employment Type: Full Time Experience Required: Elevator Installation & Wiring (Residential + Commercial)

We are seeking an experienced Elevator Installer/Mechanic with strong hands on installation, wiring, hydraulic setup, and structural experience. The ideal candidate has worked with multiple controller platforms, can complete full installations efficiently, and is comfortable working independently or as part of a small team.

This role involves installing residential and commercial elevator systems, wiring controllers, setting T rails and brackets, performing hydraulic setups, and ensuring all work meets safety and code requirements.

• Install residential and commercial elevator systems from hoistway prep to final turnover

• Wire and troubleshoot multiple controller platforms (EMI, Porta, Fox Valley, Garaventa, Savaria, Stilts, Inclinator)

• Perform limited work with TAL controllers as needed

• Set T rails and structural brackets with proper alignment and leveling

• Install and set up hydraulic systems including Eco Valve, EV100, and EV300

• Complete full elevator installations efficiently (typical 3 4 stop install in ~4 days)

• Perform approximately 4 installations per month depending on workload

• Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals

• Ensure all work meets safety, code, and manufacturer standards

• Communicate effectively with project managers, inspectors, and customers

• Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues during installation

• Maintain clean, organized job sites and accurate documentation

• Experience wiring EMI and Porta controllers (most important for this role)

• Additional wiring experience with Fox Valley, Garaventa, Savaria, Stilts, Inclinator

• Limited experience with TAL

• Strong hydraulic installation background (Eco Valve, EV100, EV300)

• Ability to install T rails and structural brackets

• Ability to complete full installations in 4 days for 3 4 stop units

• Experience performing multiple installs per month

• Residential and commercial elevator installation experience

• Blueprint reading and electrical troubleshooting skills

• Experience with ECI, Smartrise, Motion, Galaxy

• CET coursework or interest in certification

• Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude

• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

• Excellent communication and problem solving skills

• Commitment to safety and quality workmanship

• Ability to lift 50+ lbs

• Comfortable working in hoistways, machine rooms, and confined spaces

• Ability to climb ladders, work at heights, and use power tools safely
