This Elevator Safety Supervisor position is a great opportunity for an experienced, self-starter, and customer-focused professional who's looking to provide consumer protection and public safety for all Idahoans.

Example of Duties:

Supervision:

• Hires, trains and evaluates elevator inspector staff.
• Develops individual performance plans and employee cross training plans.
• Monitors effectiveness of elevator inspection program and ensures staff is delivering excellent customer service.
• Works with Building Program Manager to develop solutions to technical program issues.
• Meets with staff on a regular basis to resolve program problems and share information.
• Coordinates with Building Program Manager to ensure goals and objectives are being met.
• Serves as liaison between staff and management and compliance staff.

Outreach and Compliance:

• Incumbents oversee the compliance activities, investigate complaints, and ensure notices of violation meet appropriate criteria.
• Meets with contractors, local building officials, and associations to resolve code issues and problems.
• Participates with individual staff on inspections to monitor inspection quality.
• Conducts inspections as needed.
• Participates and attends stakeholder meetings as required by the program manager.

Training:

• Trains staff.
• Arranges and monitors inspector cross training program.
• Monitors inspectors' certifications and ensures they remain current.
• Conducts needs assessment for staff training.
• May coordinate training needs with program managers.

Inspections:

• Monitor inspection workload, coordinating inspections amongst inspectors, managing inspection areas, develops inspections data reports, and inspects on short notice to cover for absent staff and during periods of high demand.
• Conduct oversight inspections to determine overall compliance with inspection procedures and consistency throughout the agency.

Plan Review:

• Conduct plan reviews to the applicable Idaho Statutes, administrative rules, and adopted codes for the program.

Minimum Qualifications

• Some knowledge of supervisory practices.
• Experience:

o Using a computer for business purposes.

o Preparing written documents such as reports, letters, or other business documents.

o Interpreting and applying state codes and laws.

• Possession of a valid driver's license.

Minimum Qualifications Specialties

• Experience inspecting facilities for compliance with one or more of the following codes or standards: International Building Code, Life Safety Code, OSHA Safety Standards, National Fire Codes/Standards, Elevator Safety Code Act, or the Idaho Safety and Health Standards; experience interpreting building diagrams, plans, and specifications.
• Be a "Qualified Elevator Inspector" (QEI) certified by the National Association of Elevator Safety Authorities International (NAESA International) accredited certifying organization as meeting the requirements of the ASME QEI-1 standard.

Preferred Qualifications

• Good knowledge of the Idaho Elevator Safety Code Act and the applicable adopted codes within, and IDAPA 24.39.40 Rules for Elevators and Escalators.
• Applicants must possess one year of experience inspecting elevators in accordance with the Elevator Safety Code Act 39-8607).
