JOB TITLE: ELL Instructional Aide
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associates Degree or the Equivalent or Passing Scores on a Work Keys Test
- Proficient oral and written communication skills in English and Spanish.
REPORTS TO: Principal
ANNUAL CALENDAR DAYS: 187 days (9 months, 7.5 hours/day)
JOB GOALS:
- To assist with translation of information provided by parents, guardians, schools, teachers, administrators, and others.
- To assist in providing supplemental support to schools with ESL students and their families.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work with individual or small groups to reinforce skills introduced by the teacher.
- Perform clerical and record-keeping duties as assigned by the principal and teacher.
- Operate and care for equipment and materials used in assignments.
- Report to the teacher any problem or special information about students.
- Keep all information concerning school business, students, and personnel confidential.
- Observe students during in-school and/or community-based work experience, during classroom activities, at home and other current school and community environments.
- Assists as needed with translating written communication from central office administrators, school administrators, teachers, and other staff members into Spanish to assist in communication with parents of ELLs.
- Assists with conducting ESL parent workshop and family literacy training sessions.
- Provides translation services for teacher conferences and parent meetings, when requested.
- All other duties and responsibilities as assigned by Administrator.
