    Job Description

KIPP Delta Public Schools operates tuition-free, open-enrollment college-preparatory charter schools in the Arkansas Delta, serving over 1,000 students in Helena and Blytheville. Through a rigorous PreK-12 program and an asset-based approach, KIPP empowers students to discover their purpose and expand regional opportunities.

The ELL Teacher is responsible for teaching grammar and vocabulary and building bridges for students navigating a new language and a new culture. This position will work across grade levels K-12 to provide specialized English language instruction, ensuring our multilingual learners have the tools to thrive academically and socially.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Instructional Excellence: Design and deliver scaffolded lessons in reading, writing, speaking, and listening that align with state English Language Proficiency (ELP) standards.
    • Assessment & Placement: Administer initial language proficiency screenings and annual state-mandated assessments to track student progress and determine service eligibility.
    • Collaborative Coaching: Partner with general education teachers to "push-in" or "pull-out," providing strategies to make core content accessible to English learners.
    • Individualized Support: Maintain and update Individualized Language Plans (ILPs) for a diverse caseload of students with varying proficiency levels.
    • Family Advocacy: Act as a primary point of contact for non-English speaking families, facilitating communication and fostering a welcoming school environment.
    • Bachelor's degree in Education, TESOL, or a related field required.
    • Valid State Teaching License with an ESL/ELL/ENL Endorsement (K-12) or current enrollment in an approved Licensure Program required.
    • Deep understanding of second language acquisition theories and the distinction between social (BICS) and academic (CALP) language.
    • The ability to pivot from an elementary phonics lesson to analyzing a persuasive secondary essay.
    • Fluency in a second language is a plus.
    • Proficiency with digital learning tools (e.g., Duolingo for Schools, Lexia, or Google Classroom).

Teacher salaries will be based on experience, degree level, and licensure per the SY 2025-26 Salary Schedule range.
