Embedded Software Engineer 3 in
Mossville, IL. The work will be done
100% onsite, first shift, with no travel required. This is a
12-month position that can lead to permanent employment with our client. Compensation is
up to $64/hr W2 + full benefits (vision, dental, health insurance, 401k, and holiday pay).Job Summary
The Embedded Software Engineer 3 will develop, integrate, build, and test embedded software for electronic control systems supporting
diesel engine and battery-electric/fuel-cell programs. This individual will work across software requirements, embedded library development, configuration, integration, bench testing, and troubleshooting of software and system defects. The role includes developing and verifying embedded control software in a bench environment and supporting application teams with software flash-file development and validation. The engineer will collaborate with systems engineers, validation engineers, software architects, developers, and application teams throughout the development lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and integrate embedded control software from requirements through testing and deployment.
- Perform software requirements analysis, embedded software library development, configuration, and software builds.
- Create, execute, and document test plans for embedded software.
- Set up and configure test-bench hardware and software and perform manual and automated feature testing.
- Troubleshoot embedded software, system, and electrical issues and support application teams with software flash-file development and validation.
- Analyze and improve the efficiency, stability, and scalability of embedded system resources.
- Collaborate with application leads, systems engineers, validation engineers, software architects, and developers.
Required Qualifications- Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science with an embedded software focus.
- 5+ years of industry experience; a Master's degree does not reduce the five-year experience requirement.
- At least 5 years of industry experience in C programming.
- Demonstrated Model-Based Development experience.
- Embedded control software development experience.
- Experience using debuggers, with strong debugging and troubleshooting skills.
- Understanding of the embedded software development lifecycle, including requirements, development, testing, and delivery.
- Ability to read schematics and component data sheets.
- Strong analytical, communication, organizational, and time-management skills.
- Ability to communicate technical information and development progress effectively within a cross-functional engineering team.
Preferred Qualifications- Application software development and integration experience.
- Experience with embedded operating systems.
- Experience with Model-Based Development tools, including MATLAB, Simulink, and Stateflow.
- Experience with communications software and protocols.
- Python or similar scripting experience.
- Engine or machine controls development experience.
- Experience working with and troubleshooting electrical systems.
- Experience with CAN, SAE J1939, and Ethernet.
