Embedded Software Design & Release Engineer – 48V DC-DC Systems

? Hybrid (4 days onsite in Dearborn, MI)

Seeking a Software Design & Release Engineer to join our Body Controls organization, supporting the development of next-generation 48V DC-DC converter systems. This role is critical to delivering robust, safe, and high-quality embedded software that powers key vehicle electrical systems.

? What You’ll Do

• Lead the design, development, validation, and release of embedded software for 48V DC-DC converter modules
• Translate system requirements into clear software specifications for supplier execution
• Act as the primary technical liaison between external suppliers
• Review and approve software architecture, design, and validation deliverables
• Drive issue resolution, root cause analysis, and corrective actions across the software lifecycle
• Support bench and vehicle-level integration and testing
• Ensure compliance with ASPICE, ISO 26262 (functional safety), and cybersecurity standards
• Track program milestones, deliverables, and quality metrics

? What We’re Looking For

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Computer, or Software Engineering
• 3+ years of experience in automotive embedded software development
• Strong understanding of software development lifecycle and release processes
• Experience working with external suppliers in a technical capacity
• Knowledge of ASPICE and ISO 26262 frameworks
• Familiarity with automotive cybersecurity principles
• Solid problem-solving skills, including root cause analysis

? Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with 48V architectures or DC-DC/power electronics systems
• Familiarity with tools (GPDS, WERS, Integrator)
• Experience with requirements tools (DOORS, JAMA)
• Knowledge of diagnostics (UDS, OBD)
• Background in software validation and integration testing
