The Embedded Software Engineer will contribute to software development efforts supporting AI-powered smart glasses initiatives. This role offers the opportunity to collaborate with world-class engineers developing products at the intersection of hardware, software, AI, and consumer electronics. The successful candidate will play a key role in enhancing existing user experiences, resolving complex software challenges, and contributing to future product innovations that are shaping the next generation of wearable computing.

Job Overview

We are seeking an Embedded Software Engineer with experience developing software for embedded systems and consumer electronic products. The ideal candidate will have strong programming fundamentals, hands-on embedded development experience, and a passion for building reliable software that directly impacts end-user experiences.

This role will primarily support audio-focused initiatives, including Conversation Focus and other shipping experiences of a Smart Glasses.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and implement enhancements and new features for AI-powered smart glasses.
  • Develop and maintain software for embedded platforms and consumer electronic devices.
  • Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve software defects impacting product performance and user experience.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including software engineers, hardware engineers, product managers, and researchers to deliver embedded solutions.
  • Contribute to architecture discussions and future product development initiatives.
  • Write clean, maintainable, scalable, and well-tested code.
  • Participate in code reviews and software quality improvement efforts.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, system configurations, procedures, and best practices.
  • Support software optimization and performance improvements across embedded systems.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 2–6 years of software engineering experience.
  • 1+ year of professional experience programming in C/C++ or Java.
  • 1+ year of experience developing software for embedded systems.
  • Experience working on consumer electronic products or embedded devices.
  • Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1+ year of experience with Python.
  • Experience supporting audio, wearable, IoT, or smart device products.
  • Familiarity with software development lifecycle practices for embedded platforms.
  • Experience optimizing software performance and reliability in production environments.
