Job Title: Embedded Software Engineer
Location: Mossville, IL
Duration: 10 Months
Pay rate: $40/hr on W2
Required Education and Experience:
1. Education: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
2. Experience: 2-7 years of full-time work experience.
Critical Requirements & "Must-Haves"
1. Test Type: Experience must be in hardware testing (software testing alone is disqualifying).
2. Safety Obsession: A "brother's keeper" mentality. The description explicitly states this is the highest priority. Candidates must show a genuine, demonstrable passion for lab safety protocols.
3. Meticulous Attention to Detail: The role requires making detailed test requests 1-2 weeks in advance and ensuring strict data quality documentation. Overlooking small details can compromise a test.
4. Data Analysis Proficiency: The ability to not just run a test, but to analyze the results and compile them into post-test reports effectively.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
• Planning: Submitting detailed requests for lab resources (voltage levels, power, instrumentation) well in advance.
• Execution: Performing hands-on testing of chargers, inverters, and high-voltage systems in the lab.
• Safety & Compliance: Wearing PPE at all times and ensuring all data quality processes are followed.
• Reporting: Analyzing test data and authoring post-test summaries.
What Makes This Role Unique?
• Cutting-Edge Tech: The individual will be testing new products specifically supporting AI data centers, placing them at the forefront of Caterpillar's electrification strategy.
• High Autonomy in Planning: While you execute tests designed by the validation team, you are responsible for translating those plans into actionable lab resource requests, requiring foresight and organization.
• Collaborative Environment: You will work closely with both the engineering validation team (to understand technical risks) and the lab support team (to coordinate resources).
