Required Education
• Degree Requirement: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering, or a relevant field.
• Years of Experience: 2–4 years of industry experience (experience outside of internships).
• Design and implement software of embedded devices and systems from requirements to production and commercial deployment.
• Write and code logical and physical database descriptions; specify identifiers to the management system or direct others in coding descriptions.
• Analyze and enhance the efficiency, stability, and scalability of system resources.
• Review project requests describing user needs to estimate time and cost required to accomplish the project.
• Contribution: Software strategy creation, optimization, and documentation for Caterpillar engine and aftertreatment systems.
• Tasks: Engage with software programmers, mechatronics, and validation engineers to solve engine control challenges; develop and document software control strategies for internal customers.
• Team Structure: Part of a 15-person team divided into engine subsystem ownership. You will be partnered with a mentor during the onboarding ramp-up period.
• Interaction: Engine lab development activities, in-person meetings, and team huddles. • Environment: 90% office-based (for software development). Occasional work in soft labs (development benches) and engine test labs (requires PPE: safety glasses and boots).

Skill 1. Software Development: Strong proficiency in Matlab and Simulink.
2. Validation Testing: Hands-on experience with Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) and Software-in-the-Loop (SIL) validation testing.

• Solid programming experience in C or C++.
