Responsibilities:

Design, develop, test, and maintain embedded software and firmware for medical devices
Develop low-level software components, device drivers, and hardware interfaces
Create, execute, and debug automated and manual test scripts
Translate software requirements into detailed test designs and verification activities
Troubleshoot complex hardware/software integration issues
Ensure compliance with medical device quality and regulatory standards
Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams throughout the product development lifecycle

Job Title: Sr. Software Engineer – Embedded Systems (Medical Device)

Location: Minneapolis, MN (Hybrid – 4 Days Onsite)
Duration: 12-Month W2 Contract

 

The client is specifically looking for an Electrical Engineer with strong embedded software/firmware development experience. This role requires a candidate who can bridge hardware and software, with hands-on expertise in embedded coding, low-level firmware, hardware interfacing, and software testing within regulated product environments.

 

Required Skills:

Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
4+ years of experience in Embedded Software/Firmware Development
Strong programming skills in C and C++
Experience with Embedded Systems, RTOS, and Bare-Metal Development
Knowledge of low-level firmware, device drivers, and communication protocols (SPI, I2C, UART, CAN, etc.)
Strong understanding of hexadecimal and binary data analysis/manipulation
Experience with embedded software testing, debugging, and validation
Familiarity with Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
Experience working in regulated industries such as Medical Devices, Aerospace, Automotive, or Industrial Controls.
 

Preferred Skills:

Requirements-based testing and verification
Experience writing software requirements and developing test strategies
Automated test script development and debugging
Knowledge of neurostimulation devices, programmers, or similar medical device technologies
Experience with FDA-regulated software development processes.
