    Job Description

    The University of Kansas is seeking a full-time Emergency Communications Officer who will work with police and emergency personnel in protecting the life, health, safety and campus property by expeditiously receiving, analyzing, evaluating and prioritizing emergent and non-emergent information via telephone, radio, computer, alarms, printers and in-person contacts. The position also processes and maintains police records.

    The KU Emergency Communications Center operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, including holidays.  Communications personnel work four-day work weeks for three different work shifts: 8 a.m. – 6 p.m., 2 p.m. – 12a.m. and 10 p.m. – 8 a.m, Sunday through Saturday.  Shifts are assigned with rotating days off. Overtime is available and/or required for special events, major incidents and shift coverage.
