Overview:
QuarterLine, a Planned Systems International (PSI) Company, is currently seeking highly qualified Emergency Department Physicians to provide direct patient care at the G.V. (Sonny) Montgomery VA Medical Center in Jackson, MS. Physicians will deliver emergency medicine services that meet or exceed the standards of the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP), ensuring Veterans receive timely, high-quality care in a 24/7 emergency department setting.
Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive emergency care, including evaluation, stabilization, treatment, triage, diagnosis, and patient disposition.
- Manage a full spectrum of emergency cases: trauma, cardiovascular, respiratory, gastrointestinal, renal, OB/GYN, musculoskeletal, neurological, dermatologic, and psychiatric emergencies.
- Perform emergency procedures such as intubation, chest tube placement, lumbar puncture, central line insertion, defibrillation, cardioversion, fracture/dislocation reduction, and wound repair.
- Supervise and collaborate with mid-level providers (NPs/PAs) and ensure proper inpatient admission hand-offs.
- Deliver discharge planning, patient education, and continuity of care, including social work referrals for homeless or high-risk Veterans.
- Ensure compliance with VA standards, The Joint Commission (TJC) requirements, and infection control guidelines.
- Maintain accurate medical records, timely communication of test results, and compliance with all hospital by-laws, rules, and regulations.
Minimum Requirements:
- License: Current, full, and unrestricted medical license in any U.S. State, Territory, or the District of Columbia.
- Board Certification/Eligibility: Emergency Medicine (preferred), OR Family Medicine / Internal Medicine with a minimum of 2 years of recent ED experience (within the last 5 years).
- Certifications: Current BLS and ACLS required.
- DEA Registration & NPI required.
- Must be technically proficient, fluent in English, and meet all credentialing and privileging requirements under VHA Directives 1100.20 and 1100.21.
Desired Qualifications:
- Knowledge of universal precautions for safety and prevention of cross contamination.
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology to assemble specialty operating room/clinic instrument sets.
- Basic understanding of the basic principles of microbiology as they apply to medical supply operations.
- Working understanding of anatomy and physiology to understand how the instrumentation is used.
- Must provide proof of standard immunizations and screenings (TB, MMR, Varicella, Tdap, Influenza, COVID-19).
- Must comply with OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens training and maintain Hepatitis B vaccination records.
- Active participation in Continuing Medical Education (CME) as required by the facility.
