Job Summary and Qualifications The Emergency Department Specialty Educator is responsible for the development of educational materials and activities designed to improve professional practice and the provision of quality patient care in this specialty area. This includes educational aspects of orientation and onboarding of clinical employees, clinical professional development, and development of education that addresses practice gaps for identified target audiences within an identified specialty to achieve specific outcomes. This position will facilitate work across workgroups, interacting with various stakeholders to ensure all course material is developed and implemented using HCA's clinical education standardsWhat you will do in this role:Participates in strategic planning and business development within area(s) of responsibility to support new service offerings, technology advances and other opportunities to drive differentiation and support the growth agenda through the development of educational programsRepresents the organization positively within the community; participates in company supported community/patient events and in-services.Stays abreast of external factors and opportunities impacting healthcare; to include political, legislative and regulatory changes, emerging technologies, and advancements in healthcare deliveryUnderstands the competitive landscape. Supports the organization to respond to these changing healthcare dynamics and market environments through clinical educationOperates within the annual budgetOptimizes department performance in accordance with established budget, including the utilization of staffing, supplies, equipment identifying cost reduction opportunities to achieve savingsCollaborates with the clinical education team to systematically evaluate HCA's education plan to determine achievement of expected outcomes and resource allocationIntegrates best available evidence into practice into HCA's clinical education service lineCollaborates with the division VPs, Clinical Education supporting their division to improve the nursing practice of the organization through clinical education and competency managementConsistently seeks improvement opportunities to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of the competency management program through the review of evidence for best practices in competency managementProblem solves independently and engages stakeholders appropriatelyRole models lifelong learning and remains cognitive of nurse professional development trends and changes in practice to best meet the educational needs of our cliniciansIncorporates adult educational theory and pedagogy into the development of educational content or programsDemonstrates an understanding and ability to apply evaluation methodologies, (i.e., Kirkpatrick) into courses and curriculum to refine clinical content and programsAbility to travel up to 25% of the timeRemains flexible and available to provide assistance to HCA Command Center for any/all disaster or emergency situations What qualifications you will need:Master's degree In Nursing or Education; if the graduate degree is not in nursing, the undergraduate degree must be in nursing - Required3+ years of experience in an acute care facility and 2+ years of experience in education, organizational development or human resources in a hospital setting - Required Education professional with the ability to develop course content, provide course delivery, conduct learner evaluation and utilize adult learning principles - Required Currently licensed as a registered professional nurse in the state(s) in which he or she practices, in accordance with law and regulation - Required Certified Nurse Educator certification required within one years of hire - PreferredOr equivalent combination of education and/or experience .
