Description

Emergency Department TechnicianThe Emergency Department Technician (ED Tech) is responsible and accountable for the delivery of patient care under the direction of the Registered Nurse. The ED Tech collects data and implements task specific functions as directed by the Registered Nurse. The ED Tech delivers care that is specific to the special behaviors / needs of the patient and that is age appropriate for the individual. The ED Tech communicates pertinent patient information and responses to interventions to the appropriate nurses and documents in the medical record pertinent patient information and responses to interventions.QualificationsEducation:High School graduate or equivalent.Certifications:EMT, EMT-P certification preferred, or equivalent training or hospital experience requiredCurrent AHA BLS requiredMust successfully pass the telemetry test within the introductory period and on annual basisExperience:Minimum Six (6) months of related experience as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT or Paramedic), Certified Nursing Assistant, or Medical Assistant, or equivalent experience (e.g. military experience).Skills:Must maintain competencies in skills, as assigned through annual skills training and in identified department trainingMust also be competent in assisting nurses and physicians with department specific proceduresMust demonstrate and maintain current knowledge and skill in providing care for patients in the following age groups: Neonatal, Pediatric, Adolescent, Young Adult, Middle Adult, and GeriatricExcellent interpersonal skills in dealing with the public, patients, physicians, and co-workersAbility to remain flexible and positive within a rapidly changing patient care environmentWork Hours:FTE: 0.8 (Part-Time)Schedule: 32 hours weeklyShift Length: 8-hour shiftsDays: Weekdays and every other weekend (Saturday and/or Sunday, based on business needs)
