JOB DESCRIPTION: To facilitate student comprehension and application of concepts skills and behaviors that contribute to the development of mature, able, and responsible members of society.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Demonstrate support for the school system and its vision, goals, and priorities.
• Provide a rigorous curriculum that aligns with the Alabama Department of Education (ALSDE) and Career & Technical Education (CTE) Course of Study.
• Sponsor a Career Technical Education Student Organization (CTSO) and participates in at least one program-related competition per year.
• Adhere to school system rules, administrative procedures, local board policies, and state and federal rules and regulations.
• Work collaboratively with teachers, administrators, parents, school and agency counselors, and related service providers in the overall educational plan for students enrolled in the education setting.
• Assist in the development and implementation of the individual education service and transition plan for students enrolled in the education setting.
• Engages in professional growth & demonstrate professional ethics & leadership.
• Use current technology for instruction and management purposes.
• Ability to compile and analyze data, and interpret the laws, policies, and regulations pertaining to the work.

Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.

• Effective oral and written communication.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Associate's degree in Fire Science, Fire Technology, Fire Administration, Fire Fighter/Paramedic, Law & Public Safety, or in a related area OR
• Firefighter I and Firefighter II
• Fire Instructor I
• School systems planning to offer the National Fire Protection Agency 1001 certification must employ a teacher who holds Fire Instructor I certification. (AND ALL OPTIONS)
• One of the three listed is required: o National or Alabama Registered Emergency Medical Technician o National or Alabama Emergency Medical Technician Advanced o National or Alabama Emergency Medical Technician Paramedic
• Bachelor's Degree or higher in Fire Science, Law & Public Safety, or in a related area OR
• Fire Officer I
• Certified in Rescue Technician content other than Rope I and Rope II (Four of the nine listed below are required) o RT: Cave I/II o RT: Confined Space I/II o RT: Dive I o RT: Structural Collapse I/II o RT: Surface Water I/II o RT: Swiftwater I/II o RT: Trench I/II o RT: Vehicle Extrication and Machinery Extrication I o RT: Wilderness I/II
• EMS Safety Officer
• Rescue Officer Level I may be certified as an EMS Safety Officer I (AND ALL OPTIONS)
• One of the three listed is required: o National or Alabama Registered Emergency Medical Technician o National or Alabama Emergency Medical Technician Advanced o National or Alabama Emergency Medical Technician Paramedic
• Must meet Every Student Succeed Act (ESSA) federal and state requirements or a willingness to meet the requirements within the designated timeframe.
