Employment Status: Part Time Working Hours: 24 hours a week (48 hours per pay period) Shift: 1st shift (6:00 AM - 6:00 PM) Position Reports to: Emergency Department Nurse Manager Department Description: Wilson Health's Emergency Department is a 20 bed ED unit with 14 cardiac monitored beds. The Emergency Department at Wilson Health has received national recognition for exceptionally quick treat release times for patients. Job Summary: The Emergency Department Health Unit Coordinator (HUC)/Patient Care Technician (PCT) prepares and compiles records in nursing unit of hospital facility and provides essential patient care under direction of Registered Nurse. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: - Responsible for the computer entry of patient information/registration and physician orders to ensure continuity of care.
- Assist with the coordination of activities of the unit and ensures the necessary supplies are available to provide patient care.
- Assure opens and timely communication with the patient, their significant others and team members to ensure the occurrence of therapeutic interventions.
- Under direction of the RN/LPN, assists in meeting the physical and emotional needs of the patient on his/her assigned unit. The patient population would include: the young-middle aged adult patient, and the geriatric patient.
- Under the direction of the RN/LPN, carry out assigned treatments and procedures.
- The HUC/PCT shall provide care based on ethical concepts, respect for life, dignity, human worth and the individuality of human beings.
Qualifications: - High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and / or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Successfully completed an approved Nurse Aide Training and Competency Evaluation Program; or three to six months related hospital experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Ability to read and communicate effectively in English with strong interpersonal skills.
- Current certification in Basic Life Support
