Job Summary

  • Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair agricultural irrigation and water distribution systems, including irrigation lines, wells, pumps, pumping systems, valves, controls, and related infrastructure.
  • Diagnose irrigation and pumping system problems and independently determine appropriate repairs, materials, and corrective actions.
  • Operate agricultural and construction equipment, including tractors, backhoes, loaders, forklifts, dump trucks, and related farm implements.
  • Perform welding, cutting, fabrication, and field repairs of agricultural equipment, facilities, and infrastructure.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and repair of farm equipment, machinery, vehicles, trailers, and related mechanical systems.
  • Assist with construction, repair, and maintenance of agricultural facilities and infrastructure, including fencing, corrals, roads, underground utilities, and water systems.
  • Follow applicable safety, environmental, and operational requirements while performing assigned work.
  • Perform other related Agricultural Operations duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Extensive working knowledge of irrigation, pumping, and water distribution systems, including the ability to independently troubleshoot and perform repairs.
  • Ability to safely operate agricultural and construction equipment.
  • Ability to perform welding, cutting, and basic metal fabrication.

Education and Experience

Completion of applicable apprenticeship program or equivalent to four years of increasingly responsible experience leading to journey-level skills. Two years of journey-level experience as a skilled crafts worker focused on mechanical, repair, and renovation of more complex facilities and systems.

Licenses, Certificates, Credentials

Possession of a valid driver's license or the ability to obtain by date of hire.

Salary:

Anticipated Hiring Range: $34.60 - $38.20 per hour

Classification Range: $34.60 - $50.41 per hour

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Anticipated Hiring Range referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Classification Range may be broader than what the University anticipates paying for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
