    Description

    Minimum Qualifications

    Bachelors degree and two years of full-time professional administrative experience in the field of Emergency Management are required. Successful completion of the Federal Emergency Management Agencys (FEMA) Independent Study (IS) Programs IS-100.b, IS-200.b, IS-230.d, IS-700.a, and IS-800.b or FEMA recognized equivalents are required. Must be able to respond to emergencies on a 24-hour basis and must possess a valid drivers license. Certified Florida Professional Emergency Manager (Florida Emergency Preparedness Association) or Certified Emergency Manager (International Association of Emergency Managers) is highly preferred.

    Recruitment Notes

    The individual in this role will work closely with the Assistant Director and Bureau Managers, leveraging practical knowledge in hazard mitigation, risk reduction activities, and disaster cost recovery programs. This includes applying insights from state and local hazard mitigation plans, THIRA/SPR, FEMA Public Assistance, Individual Assistance, and Community Development Block Grant Disaster Recovery Funds (CDBG-DR).

    The incumbent will employ a strong balance of research, organization, project management, and analytical skills. This position leads projects and programs focused on disaster risk reduction and resilience, working directly with county and community stakeholders. Success in this position comes from balancing analytical project management with effective communication to lead meetings, facilitate training, connect with partners, and build lasting local resilience.
