Job Summary
The Division of Public and Behavioral Health: Public Health Preparedness, Emergency Medical Services Program, has an opening for a full time Emergency Medical Services Specialist in Elko, NV. EMS Specialists promote and regulate the quality of pre-hospital care through inspection and permitting of ambulances, air ambulances, vehicles of fire-fighting agencies and the agencies that provide the services and licensure of the providers of services. The incumbent assists with monitoring and coordination of training within the divisions assigned geographical areas, for adherence to national standards as well as administering testing when necessary. Participation in the development and monitoring of EMS systems for statutory and regulatory compliance through analysis of reports, quality assurance programs and direct observations. Participation in investigations of complaints regarding violations of Trauma and EMS regulations and the review, development and implementation of state regulations governing Trauma and EMS. Represent the program on boards, at conventions, and in the local communities. Assist with grant funding and applications and data collection and dissemination as necessary. Ability to read and understand a variety of documents; to determine accuracy of reports, write concise, logical and grammatically correct reports to detail violations of regulations and other duties as assigned.

Three or more years of applicable experience as described in the job duties and graduation from high school or equivalent education.

Certification as an Emergency Medical Technician, licensure as an Ambulance Attendant, or licensure as a Registered Nurse is required within six months of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment at the Emergency Medical Services Representative 1 and 2 levels.
