The EMT is responsible for assessing injuries administering emergency medical care of victim of illness/ injury per established standards of care and in accordance with the current Maryland Medical Protocols for Emergency Medical Service Providers. This position transports injured or sick persons to medical facilities, operating assigned emergency vehicles in accordance with applicable Maryland laws and standards.

Salary Range: $42,117.00-$113,198.00
BUDGETED SALARY: $58,000.00 w/Built-In Overtime
Base Salary: $54,733.34
Essential Duties:

- Respond and provide appropriate EMS care to patients on calls for service;
- Assure that all patient care documentation is complete prior to the end of shift;
- Maintain all required certifications and licenses;
- Conduct regular inventory or assigned transport units, with particular attention to medications, fluids, and other materials subject to expiration;
- Clean and fuel assigned vehicles as required;
- Operate assigned vehicles in a safe and reasonable manner in accordance with applicable traffic laws;
- Follow all rules and regulations of Harford County;
- Conduct yourself in a professional manner without regard to the situation;
- Other duties as assigned.
Years of Experience:
Two (2) years of experience as an active BLS provider upon applying.
Years of Supervisory Experience: N/A
Education:
High School Diploma, GED or equivalent is required
Certifications, Licensures, and Examinations:
- Possession of a valid Class "C" non-commercial drivers license with no more than three (3) points (Required)
- Certified Maryland Emergency Medical Technician (Required)
- Certification in MFRI Emergency Vehicle Operators Course or MFRI equivalent (Preferred)
- Certification in Hazmat Awareness (Preferred)
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to present matters concisely;
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, or as part of a team, in the execution of duties;
- Ability to complete appropriate patient care reports in a timely manner;
- Ability to operate emergency vehicles in a safe and reasonable manner;
- Ability to work varying hours;
- Knowledge of public safety emergency communications systems;
- Ability to load, lift and/or carry patient transport devices under all conditions;
- Ability to provide appropriate pre-hospital care during calls for service;
- Adapts well to changing conditions and new community needs or expectations Is quick to acknowledge the positive aspects of changes and events, staying open to new ideas, new technology, etc.;
- Recognizes when changes in priorities, direction or the pace of activities appear necessary, yet will also argue for preserving what was good about previous practices or approaches;

Requirements:
- Successful completion of Physical Agility Testing Required.
- Must have a communication device, in which one can make and receive voice calls, to be contacted for on-call purposes.
