Uptown Homecare is seeking an experienced, dependable Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) for a private-duty assignment supporting an adult patient recovering from surgery in the Houston area.

This is a unique one-on-one private duty opportunity focused on patient safety, mobility assistance, observation, and overnight support in a private home environment.

 The patient generally rests throughout the night but requires a qualified professional to remain attentive to safety and comfort, assist with approved mobility and transfers, and promptly communicate any concerns or changes in condition to the private clinical team.

About the Assignment

Responsibilities may include:

• Providing continuous one-on-one patient support during the assigned shift
• Monitoring the patient for safety and comfort
• Assisting with approved mobility and transfers
• Following established hip precautions
• Assisting with wheelchair use and bathroom transfers as instructed
• Maintaining fall-prevention and other safety measures
• Observing for pain, discomfort, dizziness, weakness, confusion, or other changes
• Obtaining and documenting vital signs as directed
• Observing Dexcom glucose readings and reporting concerns according to established instructions
• Keeping pathways clear and necessary items within the patient's reach
• Immediately communicating changes or concerns to the appropriate clinical team
• Receiving and providing an accurate shift-to-shift report
• Completing required documentation for the shift
• Following the patient's established plan of care and assignment-specific instructions

• Calm, attentive, and highly dependable
• Comfortable working independently in a private home
• Experienced with adult patient care
• Comfortable assisting with mobility and transfers
• Safety-focused and observant
• Able to recognize and promptly report changes in a patient's condition
• Professional and respectful of patient privacy and personal space
• Comfortable working in a quiet overnight environment while remaining alert and attentive

Requirements

• Current Texas EMT certification
• Current BLS/CPR certification
• Previous patient-care experience
• Ability to safely assist with mobility and transfers
• Strong communication and documentation skills
• Reliable transportation
• Ability to meet Uptown Homecare credentialing requirements
