    Weekend Requirements: As Needed | Work Hours: 0730-0730 | Status: Full Time- 1.2 FTE (96 hours per pay period) | Entity: Owensboro Health Muhlenberg Community Hospital | Department: Emergency Medical Services

    Job Summary

    Responsible for the provision of optimum patient care in accordance with the KY EMS Regulations KRS 311A.140 and all Owensboro Health Muhlenberg Community Hospital-Emergency Medical Service guidelines and protocols.

    Job Responsibilities

    • Navigates ambulance to the patient's location.

    • Provides stabilization of scene and requests additional assistance as necessary.

    • Determines nature and extent of illness or injury and patient's history from available sources.

    • Administers emergency medical care within scope of practice, including patient stabilization, monitoring, and resuscitation from the scene to receiving medical facility.

    • Contacts medical personnel, reports/records observations, and follows directives from supervising physician or registered nurse.

    • Maintains equipment, restocks supplies, and cleans ambulance as necessary.

    • Responsible for the safe operation of all EMS vehicles in accordance with current Kentucky Motor Vehicle codes.

    • Maintains personal knowledge and skills in order to deliver optimum patient care as an EMT.

    • Stocks and maintains the EMS vehicle and its contents in a state of readiness at all times.

    • Must be able to work with local Fire and Law Enforcement agencies as a team for a coordinated effort on the patient's behalf.

    • Documents all patient care assessments, BLS skills and all service reports in a timely manner.

    • Must be punctual and ready for all shifts.

    • Acts at all times in a professional manner and handles conflict and stressful situations with good judgment.

    • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

    Education

    • High school diploma, General Equivalency Diploma (GED) or higher required upon hire

    Licensure/Certification/Registration

    • EMT - Certified Emergency Medical Technician in the state of Kentucky required upon hire AND

    • Driver- Valid driver's license and 21 years of age required upon hire AND

    • BLS - Certified as a Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider required within 90 days of employment in this position
