This position provides a wide range of assistive services to promote patient flow, patient informational gathering and patient care in the clinical setting. The EMT, under the direction of the supervision of the Clinic Manager and under the direction of the provider and/or nurse, Certified Medical Assistant, or Paramedic. Assists in providing quality care directly and indirectly. The EMT performs skills described and regulated by the Missouri Bureau of Emergency Medical Services via the authority of the Missouri Comprehensive Emergency Medical Services Systems Act (Chapter 190, Missouri Revised Statutes 190.010 -190.245).

Essential Technical/Motor Skills
- Clinical skills-Venipuncture for collection of laboratory specimens. Capillary specimens.
- Point of care testing.

Essential Physical Requirements
- Requires standing, sitting, bending, and walking.
- Must be able to perform CPR for a sustained period

- Collects and conveys information to the provider regarding the health status of patients throughout the visit including entering in the electronic medical record. Contributes information to the provider for development and modification of the patients care plan.
- Assists patients in ADLs including preparation for examination and imaging studies
- Performs all patient care skills at the level of a Missouri licensed Emergency Medical Technician (EMT).
- Performs duties with the goal of optimizing patient flow in the clinical setting
- Utilize medical equipment and procedures including oxygen and suction devices, CPR and other procedures as required to provide medical care
- Collects and labels laboratory specimens including blood, urine, stool, and swabs. Performs point of care testing. Performs phlebotomy and EKGs with appropriate training and competencies.
- Develop and utilize triage skills to provide optimal efficiency.
- Provide patient care according to clinical guidelines and safety requirements.
- Communicate with patients and loved ones to provide information and assurance that care is being given and to show compassion.
- Keep current on certifications. (BLS, CPI, PEARS, and other organizational requirements)
- Maintains cleanliness and orderliness of the clinic.
- Cleans, stocks, and sets up clinical rooms
- Other duties as assigned.
Education
- H.S. Diploma - Required
- successful completion of the Missouri EMT training program - Required
Work Experience
- 1 Year - EMT experience on Ambulance Service or hospital setting - Preferred
Licenses and Certifications
- Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) - State of Missouri EMT License - Required Upon Hire
- Basic Life Support (BLS) - Required within 90 Days
