The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) Department of Emergency Medicine is seeking exceptional physicians to join our nationally recognized department. We are recruiting board-certified and board-eligible physicians across a variety of clinical, academic, subspecialty, and leadership roles.

As Arkansas''s only academic health sciences center and home to the state''s only Level 1 Trauma Center, UAMS provides physicians with the opportunity to care for a diverse patient population while working alongside nationally recognized faculty in an innovative academic environment.

We are currently recruiting physicians for the following positions:

Emergency Medicine Physician - Community Practice

Emergency Medicine Physician - Academic Clinical Faculty

Medical Toxicologist

Assistant/Associate Residency Program Director

Medical Director - Community Emergency Medicine

Qualifications:

Additional qualifications may apply depending on the position.

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD), Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO), or equivalent degree

  • Board certification or board eligibility in Emergency Medicine (ABEM or ABOEM), or specialty-specific board certification where applicable

  • Eligibility for or current Arkansas medical licensure

  • Demonstrated commitment to patient-centered, evidence-based care

  • Excellent communication and collaborative practice skills

Preferred Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive emergency medical care for patients across the lifespan

  • Evaluate, diagnose, and manage acute illnesses and injuries

  • Perform emergency procedures consistent with specialty training

  • Deliver timely, compassionate, evidence-based care

  • Teach and supervise residents, fellows, and medical students

  • Participate in curriculum development and educational programming

  • Mentor trainees and junior faculty

  • Lead clinical operations and departmental initiatives

  • Support provider recruitment, onboarding, and professional development

  • Participate in strategic planning and operational improvement

  • Promote patient safety and quality initiatives

  • Participate in research and scholarly activity

  • Present at regional or national meetings

  • Publish scholarly work as appropriate

  • Contribute to innovation within Emergency Medicine

  • Work collaboratively with physicians, advanced practice providers, nursing, pharmacy, EMS, hospital administration, and multidisciplinary care teams

  • Support departmental goals focused on quality, efficiency, patient experience, and operational excellence

  • Other duties as assigned
