Part-time, Regular position | Schedule: Nights, 12-hour shifts, up to 32 hours each week | Pay: Paygrade 4, Hourly, Shift differential

Job Purpose or Objective(s): As the Emergency Room Technician, you will assist the RN and LPN in the delivery of nursing care of pediatric and adult patients. You will observe through direct personal care and report abnormalities to the RN. You will report to the Unit Manager.

Primary Tasks:

  1. Observe the physiological health status of the patient on admission to the ER; perform and assist with on-going observation of the patient's health status during the hospitalization period.

  2. Report any health deficits, possible complications to the RN (abnormal vs. increased temperature, decreased sensorium changes in intake and output).

Provide direct patient care and assistance where needed to enhance the health care team in providing comprehensive coordinated care to patient, and family.

Check patients every 30 minutes, recheck visit as needed, offer warm blankets, water and other comfort measures.

Assist the RN/LPN with nursing diagnoses by keeping them informed of observed, symptoms, reactions, changes in conditions of patients and other pertinent observations and information regarding patient's condition.

Assist with plan of care based on the patient's problems/needs as identified by the RN on admission.

Assist with reports as instructed by the RN.

Perform other responsibilities as may be assigned.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Current CPR certification
  • Ability to take vital signs and monitor blood sugar levels
