SUPERVISOR: Shelter Services Director

OBJECTIVE: Manage the day-to-day operations of the 2 shelters and provide supervision and support for all emergency services staff. Oversee Youth Advocates, Intake Advocates, Family Advocates and mandatory reporting. Represent the organization and its values, and advocate for domestic violence resources in the community.

LOCATION: Onsite shelter sites and remote working; hybrid

Responsibilities and Duties:

POLICIES & PROCEDURES

  • Work with participants, co-workers, supervisor, community partners, and all other relevant stakeholders in a manner that is consistent with, and promotes, the Bradley Angle Ethical Commitments and the Bradley Angle Organizational Values.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of our shelter locations and participants' information. ? Oversee and update shelter policies and procedures, including emergency procedures in case of fire, medical emergency, unwanted visitors, COVID-19, and/or other emergency situations. ? Work with shelter staff to develop and implement evaluation protocols across programs and services, and that required trainings (Assertive Engagement, etc.) are completed ? Ensure data management is accurate and timely in Service Point and GroupTrail

STAFF MANAGEMENT TRAINING, DEVELOPMENT, AND RETENTION

  • Support on-going training and implementation of trauma-informed practices and Early Childhood Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports.
  • Provide trauma-informed and strengths-based individual and group supervisions with all shelter staff, creating a sense of shared accountability and a supportive community
  • Managing, documenting, and handling all grievances reported by participants and staff members by running full investigations, conducting mediations, and coordinating restorative dialogues. ? Holding all team members accountable by coaching and executing disciplinary actions when necessary through a trauma-informed approach
  • Coordinating and spearheading the screening, interviewing, and hiring process for positions when there are vacancies at shelter.

DAY-TO-DAY OPERATIONS

  • In collaboration with the Shelter Facilities Manager, schedule shelter staff and ensure adequate 24/7 shelter coverage.
  • In collaboration with the Shelter Facilities Manager, ensure that the shelter facility is safe by coordinating maintenance, cleaning, and ongoing improvement projects.
  • Coordinate meetings, events and holidays for both shelters.

BUDGETING

  • Monitor all expenditures, including participant assistance, shelter supplies, and contracted services to ensure that shelter doesn't overspend or underspend.
  • Approve expenditures for Emergency Services from all shelter staff.
  • Track participant assistance spending, and support Shelter Family Advocates in tracking funds spent in their case management.

OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED

  • Attend relevant networking and consortia meetings, both within the DV service delivery system and within other service delivery systems.
  • Participate in the weekly Participant and bi-weekly shelter Meetings.
  • Provide back-up support as needed to 24/7 shelter staff.
  • Co-plan and co-facilitate the Shelter Site meeting with the Shelter Facilities Manager ? Attend monthly Leadership Team meetings, and participate in projects generated by that group. ? Provide shelter updates at Advocates and All Staff meetings.
  • Other tasks and duties as assigned by the Shelter Services Director.

All employees are expected to demonstrate:

  • Strong proficiency with computers, Microsoft software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint GroupTrail), databases, email, and G-Suite softwares.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Ability to work independently, and as part of a team.

  • Commitment to working with survivors of domestic and/or sexual violence and knowledge of violence, historical oppression and its effects on society.
  • Commitment to social change-including working to end domestic and sexual violence and all forms of oppression: racism, homophobia, sexism, classism, etc.
  • Understanding the intersections between domestic and sexual violence, racism, poverty, trauma and other forms of oppression.
  • Ability and willingness to work as part of a diverse team.
  • Ability to reliably transport to and willingness to work on site at the shelters. Additional qualifications for Emergency Shelter Manager:
  • Two years of experience working with survivors of domestic violence or relevant experience in direct service with marginalized communities required (impacted by racism, homophobia, transphobia, poverty, alcohol and drug abuse, domestic violence, etc.).
  • Two years of management/supervising experience of teams of at least 3 staff 3. Experience with conflict resolution, de-escalation, and assertive participant engagement
